Lone Survivor - Danny Dietz's M4 Rifle

Danny Dietz's (Emile Hirsch) Stunt M4/M16A2E Rifle from Peter Berg's 2014 war drama, Lone Survivor. Tasked with capturing or killing the notorious Taliban leader, Ahmad Shah, SEAL Team 10 encounters more than they bargained for during their dangerous mission, Operation Red Wings. Dietz can be using this style of firearm throughout the film.

Made from foam rubber, this stunt weapon has been painted in a desert camouflage color. Cast from an actual Colt M4, this firearm includes original factory markings embedded on the side of the weapon. This item features numerous accessories built into the firearm including an M203 grenade launcher, AN/PEQ-2 IR Designator and a Trijicon ACOG sight. Stunt weapons such as this piece are commonly used for distance shots when a hero piece is not needed; they are lighter and therefore easier for the actors to handle. They are also used for stunt sequences in which the actor could possibly fall on the prop and injure themselves if they were holding the hero version.

Dietz's rifle features minor wear from production use, including some paint chipping, and shows adhesive applied to small breaks in the rubber, however it remains in overall very good condition.

Inside NO HERO by Mark Owen

These photographs from Mark Owen's personal collection have been altered for publication in NO HERO in order to protect the subjects' identities. They have been republished here exactly as they appear in the book.

Me during my first HAHO, or high-altitude high-opening, jump trip with my ST6 squadron, just before my parachute cutaway.

Epic fail! If you look close, you can see the skid marks on the ground behind me.

My camo uniform when I returned from the UBL raid. The blood on the upper left is where the bullet frag entered my shoulder.

Lone Survivor - Matt 'Axe' Axelson's Tactical Gear and Handgun

Matt 'Axe' Axelson's (Ben Foster) Tactical Gear and Handgun from Peter Berg's 2014 war drama, Lone Survivor. Tasked with capturing or killing the notorious Taliban leader, Ahmad Shah, SEAL Team 10 encounters more than they bargained for during their dangerous mission, Operation Red Wings. 'Axe' can be wearing this tactical rig and backpack during the deadly mission in Afghanistan. To guarantee the accuracy of the film, SEAL Team 10 survivor Marcus Luttrell was brought in to supervise the use and display of all tactical gear.

Manufactured by Kelty, Axe's backpack is the MAP 3500 model and is made for military and tactical purposes. This Military Assault Pack's (MAP) is made from nylon and includes numerous adjustable straps and compartments. Stuffed into the main compartment is a large piece of foam to help the bag keep its shape. The bag has also been outfitted with a taped-up water bottle and sniper netting. The backpack has been production distressed with dirt and grime, and includes a few straps that have been wrapped in tan colored tape, giving the piece a weathered appearance.

Worn around Axe's chest is a tactical vest made by Pantac USA. The rig features numerous compartments for ammunition and accessories, and like the backpack, has been distressed by production with dirt and stage blood from the SEAL team's deadly mission. This vest has several accessories including a tactical radio, Blackhawk carabiner, nine ammunition magazines, and a faux hand grenade. Most of these accessories have been constructed from rubber, allowing them to be lightweight.

Also included is Axe's handgun, which is actually an airsoft pistol made by KWC, and resembles a Beretta 92FS. This firearm is made from plastic and metal, and has been dirtied by production with a notable amount of dried mud located around the barrel.

Both the backpack and the vest have been labeled for use by Axe, with the backpack bearing the inscription "Axe" and the tactical vest featuring "Axe #5" with the word "stunt" scribbled out. This lot features wear from production distressing and stunt work, with the tactical rig displaying areas covered in stage blood. All items are in very good used condition.
